The second tube is brass and bears the name of the builder. Its diameter is 7.1 cm and slides 20 cm inside the first through a burnished brass ring.
The eyepiece is composed of two plane-convex lenses placed at a distance of 11 cm one from the other, with the flat face towards the observer (the Huygens - Campani eyepiece). The one closest to the observer has a focal length of 6.2 cm and a diameter of 18 mm; the other has a focal length of 11.3 cm and a diameter of 58 mm.
A diaphragm with a 39 mm hole is placed between the two lenses at a distance of 26 mm from the last.
The wooden tube has a longitudinal crack about 8 cm long starting from the sliding ring of the second tube.
The rest of the instrument is in fairly good condition.
