The Dolezalek electrometer, proposed by Friedrich Dolezalek (1873-1920) in the first years of the 20th century, is one of the many versions of the classic quadrant electrometer invented by Lord Kelvin in 1867.

The one presented here is all brass. Its overall height is 32 cm and it lies on a thick ring (outside diameter 15 cm) with three adjustable feet on a circular platform that turns around the vertical axis of the ring.
The quadrants are attached to the platform by means of amber insulating blocks. The couples of opposing quadrants are connected with two wire clamps insulated from the amber supports which, on crossing the platform, also insulate the two wire clamps for connection to the auxiliary battery and all other possible connections.
The needle and small mirror are rigidly joined to a small metal rod which terminates above the mirror with a hook to which is tied the suspending string which is made of conducting quartz fibre. ...continues
