The hinged connection to the suspending column allows the microscope to
be placed vertically when it is to be illuminated with the mirror, which
is fixed to the base, and to place it at the desired inclination when
it is to be illuminated by the lens which is located at the extremity
of a small rotating arm fixed to the slide holder bracket.
On the right of the slide holder frame, in an easy-to-reach position,
there is a clip with a pointed handle; on the other side there is a curved
brass plate with a series of six small, identical holes which can be used
to limit the aperture through which the light passes.
The microscope has a wooden case 40 cm in height in the shape of a truncated
pyramid with a square base (19.5 x 19.5 x 6 cm); it is lined with green
paper on the inside.
In the drawer for accessories there are five objectives, numbered from
one to five, two glass slides (thickness 1 mm) and a very thin round plate
of mica.
