INTERACTIVE EXPERIMENTS AND EXHIBITS
In the Department of Physics visitors find
many apparatuses with which they can interact directly and perform interesting
and spectacular experiments. Among these we find:
- a permanently oscillating Foucault
pendulum, the only one of its kind in Sardinia, a product of high technology
with which it is possible to observe in real time the rotation of our
planet around its axis;
- an experiment in remote transmission of audio signals by means of
a laser beam;
- a high-power "electromagnetic cannon" that sets off the powerful
repulsive
forces that can take place between two impulsive high- intensity
magnetic fields;
- the possibility of "charging" a person at 75,000 volts;
- a perfect and working copy of Pacinotti's
dynamo, with which a
  radio
can be powered;
- a Tesla transformer that produces tensions of about 1,000,000  volts;
- an experiment in remote transmission of weak sounds by means of
two large parabolic mirrors;
- experiments in light interference and diffraction;
- an experiment in which objects at the focus of one of several burning-glasses
are set on fire;
- experiments in transmission and receiving of electromagnetic waves
with the same apparatuses by means of which Marconi developed
radiotelegraphy;
- a reconstruction of a 1930s research laboratory, with working optical
spectrographs;
