The machine's essential elements are:

1) the inductor or stator which is fixed and composed of two vertical, cylindrical coils (outside diameter 7.2 cm; height 16 cm) the iron nuclei of which are connected at the top by means of an iron plate; at the bottom they terminate with cylindrical polar expansions consisting of three superimposed iron plates isolated from each other (overall thickness 3.5 cm);
2) the armature or rotor (outside diameter 14.5 cm; inside diameter 3.5 cm) which is connected to and coaxial with the drive shaft and rotates between the inductor polar expansions; it is composed of an iron ring on which are wound 16 groups of spires connected in series one to the other and last to the first. When the armature is made to rotate, if there is even a weak residual magnetization in the inductor in the coils induced f.e.m.'s are generated; to rectify the current generated each of the sixteen terminals common to two contiguous coils is connected to one of sixteen copper plates which are isolated one from the other and fixed on the surface of an insulating cylinder (collector)(diameter 3.6 cm, height 8.3 cm) attached to and coaxial with the drive shaft. Two copper rotors which take the current that feeds both the load and the electromagnet of the inductor (dynamo and self-excitation in series) lie on the collector on diametrally opposite sides. ...continues
